Fee Allocation
How network fees and processing fees on withdrawals are allocated between you and the recipient.
Outbound payment from BEEM (Send Crypto, Send Fiat, and Payment Link Out) may incur two fees:
| Fee | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Network fee | The blockchain (gas) fee paid to validators to confirm the transaction. Smoothed using a market-average price — see Network Fees. |
| Processing fee | BEEM's fee for handling the withdrawal. |
Each fee can be paid by the merchant (you) or paid by the recipient (the wallet receiving the funds). The two settings are independent — you can have one paid by the merchant and the other paid by the recipient.
How allocation works
| Setting | Mode | Behaviour |
|---|---|---|
| Network fee paid by | Merchant | The network fee is deducted from your wallet on top of the withdrawal amount. The recipient receives the full requested amount. |
| Network fee paid by | Recipient | The network fee is deducted from the requested amount. The recipient receives the requested amount minus the network fee. |
| Processing fee paid by | Merchant | The processing fee is deducted from your wallet on top of the withdrawal amount. The recipient receives the full requested amount. |
| Processing fee paid by | Recipient | The processing fee is deducted from the requested amount. The recipient receives the requested amount minus the processing fee. |
Worked exampleYou initiate a
100 USDCwithdrawal. Processing fee is1 USDC, network fee is0.50 USDC.
- Both fees paid by merchant — your wallet is debited
101.50 USDC, recipient receives100 USDC.- Both fees paid by recipient — your wallet is debited
100 USDC, recipient receives98.50 USDC.- Processing fee paid by merchant, network fee paid by recipient — your wallet is debited
101 USDC, recipient receives99.50 USDC.
Configuration
Fee allocation is configured by BEEM at the merchant level. Once set, it applies to every withdrawal for the merchant — there is no per-payment override.
To change your fee allocation, contact your BEEM account manager. The change applies prospectively from the moment it is enabled — historical transactions are not recalculated.
This is not a Portal settingFee allocation cannot be changed from the BEEM Portal. The configuration is held tenant-side by BEEM and applies uniformly across your account.
Scope
Fee allocation applies to every outbound transaction type:
- Send Crypto (Wallets → Send Crypto, and Payment Link Out — With Detail)
- Payment Link Out — Without Detail (once the recipient claims and provides their payout details)
- Send Fiat
Fee allocation does not apply to:
- Convert — intra-account conversions between wallets do not incur a network fee, and BEEM's conversion margin is reflected in the quote itself.
- Inbound transactions — Channel payments and Payment Link In already reflect the network fee paid by the sender, and BEEM's inbound processing fee is deducted from the credited amount as standard.
In transaction exports
Fee allocation affects which lines appear on each withdrawal in your transaction export:
| Column | When merchant pays the fee | When recipient pays the fee |
|---|---|---|
Amount (debit) | Equals withdrawal amount plus the fee. | Equals withdrawal amount. |
Fee Actual Amount | Populated and debited from your wallet on a separate line. | Populated, but deducted from the recipient's payout amount. |
Network Fee Actual Amount | Populated and debited from your wallet on a separate line. | Populated, but deducted from the recipient's payout amount. |
